Roy Waldek – Owner of an Engineering Company
Roy became involved in 1972 at the Algoa Flying Club in Port Elizabeth – he also joined the club committee there and has served in this capacity for four years. He has been regional representative for 6 years and has been appointed as Rally Co-Ordinator for the 1988 season.

Kassie Kasselman – Motor Dealer
Born and bred in the O.F.S. Kassie started his carear as a racing driver as well as rallying. He started flying in 1976 when he got bored with motor cars and presently flies as a member of 106 Squadron, SAAF, in Bloemfontein.

Johan Swart – Geologist
Presently a senior technical officer in the Geology Department at the University of Stellenbosch. Johan started flying in 1976 and holds a PPL. He is also the chairman of the University Flying Club and a director of the Stellenbosch Airfield Company.

Dave Mostert – Director of Companies
Dave began his aviation career at the age of 13 in 1975 in Pietermaritzburg. He represented SA in the World Rally Championships in 1986 and now flies helicopters in his spare time. Dave was also elected to the SAPFA committee in December 1987.

Chris Booysen – Professional Accountant

Chris started flying in 1989 and is an IF rated PPL. He has been on the committee of the Algoa Flying Club since 1990 as treasurer and chairman. On the SAPFA committee he has also acted in the capacity as treasurer and chairman.

He has taken part in 14 President’s Trophy Air Races with a best finish at 3rd place. He has also acted as Jury member for a number of Provincial and National Precision and Rally Flying Competitions. Chris acted as manager for the 2004 and Protea Flying Teams that competed in Herning, Denmark and Troyes, France. Chris is a recipient of the Aero Club Gold Wings and is an FAI International Judge.

Colin Jordaan – Professional Pilot

Colin was a truly dynamic force in South African Sport Aviation. In addition to his professional achievements he was six times a Springbok (1971 – Austria, 1980 – Germany, 1981 – UK, 1985 – USA, 1986 – Spain and 1988 – UK) for both Rally and Precision Flying. He has twice won the National Precision Flying- Championships (1979 and 1981) as also the National Rally (1981 and 1988). Besides entering the State President’s Air Race on 6 ocassions, Colin was always ready to help with the organisation of flying events – be it the S.P. Air Race, Provincial Flying Championships and Rallies, and in 1987 he organised the National Precision Flying Championships.

Colin has served three years on the S A Power Flying Association committee and was elected to the Board of Directors of the Aero Club of South Africa in 1988. Colin also wrote all the initial computer programmes for the Aero Club and was always available to rescue the staff when things went awry. Colin, who started flying in 1974 at Rand while studying Aeronautical engineering at Wits, joined SAA in 1980. From 1983 to 1986 he was Technical Director of SAA Pilots Association, Industrial Director from 1986 to 1988 and in August this year was elected Vice-President. SAAPA recognised his contribution with their Scroll of Merit for 1988 for his contribution to improving SAA conditions of service and for achieving official recognition of SAAPA. S.A.T.S. has also recognised his abilities by awarding him the SATS General Manager’s Award for Outstanding Achievement. Colin is married to Lorraine and has two children, Sandy and Stephen.

Brian Ferguson – Electrical Engineering Technician
PPL training started in 1980 at Grand Central and then moved to the Good Hope Flying Club where he is now the Vice-Chairman. Brian has represented WP at the Nationals in 1984 and is a keen rally participant. He served on the Power Flying Committee in 1986 and 1987.

Vic Kaiser – Airline Pilot

After learning to fly in 1973 in Pietermaritzburg he trained in the SAAF as a fighter pilot. Vic has been involved with the Aero Club since 1986 and has specialised in organising the SP Air Race for the past 2 years.

Mike Hartley – Architect
Started flying in 1948 and has been actively involved with the Aero Club for the past 12 years. Resident in Durban, Mike has also been the Natal representative for the past 12 years. He has also represented SA as an international judge at various world events.

Peter Wood – Property Dealer
Peter has assisted with the start and marshalling of the SP Air Race for no fewer than 7 races. Residing in Johannesburg he also assists the Transvaal representative with the organisation of provincial events. He has served on the Power Flying Committee for 2 years.
